Fitzpatrick wins his favorite tournament in a playoff over Scottie Scheffler

Matt Fitzpatrick loves Harbour Town! He’s now booked his second victory there - this time in a dramatic playoff over Scottie Scheffler. After leading by three coming into the day and extending that lead to 4 after birdies at the 1st and 3rd, Fitzpatrick made 14 straight pars before making bogey on 18, with the crowd cheering as Fitz’s par putt slid by the hole to give Scottie a chance. After he poured that in to cinch the tie in regulation, it was back to the tee for both men as they faced the 18th hole again. Both found the fairway and then Fitzpatrick launched an awesome 4 iron that settled about 13 feet from the pin, while Scottie dumped his approach shot about 40 yards short of the green. Scottie hit a great chip to keep par in play, but Fitzpatrick buried the putt to make birdie and take the victory.

In our game, Donkey Droppings paired both of those guys with Aberg (T4), Schauffele (T12) and McNealy (T16) to make a total of $7.2MM and take the win over Herbert’s Hackers 1 ($6.98MM). That win moves Donkey Droppings from 92nd to 18th overall. Unfortunately for everybody else, that 2nd place finish further extends Herbert’s Hackers 1’s overall lead, and they are now ahead of their closest competition by a shade less than $4MM.

The Tour has now completed half of their Signature Events. Next week is another PG”B” Tour event (the Zurich Classic) before we get the next “Siggy”.
